Our friends and family agree they are by far the best wedding pictures anyone has ever seen. Your artisty and creativity shine through. You are truly a master in your field. The one word that comes to mind when looking at the pictures is "Hollywood!"

KAO's Blue Plate Special

When one of Chicago’s premier catering companies holds a party of its own for the city’s top event planners, it's no surprise that the entertainment is the Ken Arlen Orchestra.
Held June 4th at the Ivy Room, this exclusive event was Blue Plate Catering’s way of thanking Chicago’s event planning community. Impressing these professionals was the order of the evening, and the special guests were treated to an exclusive preview of Blue Plate’s new menu items, a peacock-feather décor by Botanicals, and special lighting design by Sound Investment. The gorgeous seating cards and menus were by Elizabeth Grace, and photographer Jai Girard documented the evening. But above all, it was the irresistible music of the Ken Arlen Orchestra that got the crowd on their feet and really made the event take off.
From the excitement of the Sirens, Ken Arlen’s exclusive rock violin show, to KAO’s outstanding vocalists Michael Avery, Leslie Hunt, Marquecia Jordan and Dave Van Der Laan, the Ken Arlen Orchestra had this group of experienced hospitality pros crowding the dance floor late into the night.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPER IN CHICAGO RECEIVES HEARTFELT PRAISE

We couldn't believe our eyes when we read this letter of thanks from one of our happy clients,
so we thought that we'd share it on the blog. There's no other word for this one except WOW!!!

Here goes:

Jai,

This is very much overdue, but no less heartfelt; thank you (in galactic,

enormous, logarithmic, exponential, huge, infinite amounts) for your

participation in my daughter Laura's wedding last June 21. It was a

crunched -up day for me and, true to form,, I was running about 35 minutes

behind schedule all day, and was forced to hope that all the professionals I

had hired knew what to do. They did, especially you. When I emerged from

the Bridesmaids' dressing room at about 4:30, having wrestled one of those

full length bras onto my body, tried to apply eyeliner, and still working on

the reading the other of the groom and I were to do for the ceremony, I

heard murmurs that were behind schedule, so I assumed that attempts

to take pictures of the bridal party outside the University Club were nixed;

just not enough time. And then my eleven-year-old daughter, a junior

bridesmaid, gushed about going to the Art Institute, walking downtown,

photos in the garden somewhere, and I realized you miraculous managed, in

the briefest of time, to shepherd about 20 people to various sites AND

photograph them AND return to the University Club by 5:00 for family photos.

As you may know, Laura, the bride, has a twin sister, and I found it

impossible to maneuver two small girls down the street for five minutes,

much less attempt the ENORMOUS parade you successfully managed. I'm just

thrilled that you got photos in such a gorgeous place. But then, again, I

remembered my son, Demian's wedding (May 5, 2002): the wedding was at 5:00 PM

at a church in the Andersonville area, and the reception was to start at

7:00 PM downtown. Somehow, you got the whole wedding party to Lake

Michigan, to the middle of the street on Michigan Avenue, and to a scenic

floral spot near the loop, took gorgeous photos, and the entire group walked

into the reception area at 7:01 PM. YOU MAKE MIRACLES.

I also understand from Laura that there were a few interpersonal flare-ups

that you gently & wisely diffused (I think Anna, the twin sister, had a

meltdown over not being able to help Laura put on her bridal gown, and you

smoothed the tension by finding some other official and important Maid of

Honor task for her), which I know is not apart of your job description.

So I simply cannot thank you enough for managing to do the impossible: take

what I knew would be beautiful pictures, and lots of them, as fast as you

did, as thoroughly as you did, as cheerfully as you did, in as many venues

as you did. I think what you did was logistically impossible, and possibly

defies certain laws of physical dynamics.

I asked you to take my daughter's wedding photos because you accomplished so

much in so little time for my son's wedding and every photograph was a work

of art. I had hoped for the same success. What I got SURPASSED it!

Please know that I will sing your praises to everyone I know, and probably

strangers on the street, would recommend you in the most superlative terms

to anyone needing a wedding photographer, and will always remember that your

part of a very hectic day was performed with efficiency, grace, artistry,

stamina, and intelligence.
